Community ambassadors still in action

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Management Alderman Grant Twigg recently visited and engaged with the Community Ambassador Teams deployed in Mitchells Plain Town Centre, Hanover Park and Uitsig to assist with raising awareness to help reduce the spread of Covid-19. Read more below:

During the Covid-19 resurgence, Community Ambassadors were deployed throughout Cape Town to raise awareness and these efforts are still continuing, even though there is a decline in caseload. These efforts include raising awareness on social distancing, hand washing, cough etiquette and the importance of wearing a mask in public. The teams were deployed in places such as shopping malls and public transport interchanges.

‘As a caring city, we saw the signs of the resurgence of Covid-19 and the need to support our communities. We immediately mobilised resources through the Expanded Public Works Programme to assist in Covid-19 prevention. Although we have seen a steady decline in the number of infections, we should still be proactive and continue our education and awareness drives. We also remind residents to continue to play their part in the fight against Covid-19,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
 
He also praised the Community Ambassadors for the sterling work they were doing in their communities.
